Visit Thousands Of Flamingos At Lake Magadi

Visit thousands of flamingos at Lake Magadi
browse (1 / 4)

Tanzania, located on the East Coast of Africa, is a beautiful country and is best known for its amazing aesthetic appeal with its most sought-after tourist attractions including the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro, the pristine paradise of the Zanzibar Archipelago, and the majestic Lake Victoria – the second largest lake in Africa.

A popular safari destination, Tanzania boasts some of the continent’s most attractive sights and natural spectacles. Amongst these is the intriguing Lake Magadi near the Great Rift Valley located on the country’s border with southern Kenya. Lake Magadi is a soda lake where the pivotal export of sodium carbonate is mined and owned by a multi-national company, but its real draw-card is its almost pinkish like colour that has a mirror image. Though, the lake is in a remote part of the country, travelers are encouraged to a take a day trip out to it to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the rare privilege of observing thousands of flamingos. The crystalline lake is rich in the food and nutrients popular with most birds and therefore attracts the beautiful flamingos; there are other species on display too, but the flamingos are the main birds in the area and make for spectacular bird watching.

The area enveloping Lake Magadi is a breathtaking landscape of lush terrain and visitors are guaranteed to be blown away by the magnificent scenery that they are surrounded by – another indication of how beautiful and supreme Mother Nature is in this part of the world. There are hot springs nearby with tourists having the added benefit of the Kenyan capital Nairobi being just a two hour drive away.
