Fly Camping

Tarangire National Park is the least visited of all Tanzania's parks, but its unspoilt terrain and un-congested routes make it an appealing destination for many travellers. The park boasts more than 550 game species, which includes the leopard, lion, African buffalo and various breeds of kudu. The park has been named after the Tarangire River, which runs from the south to northwest before draining into Lake Burungi.

Fly Camping in the open plains of the Tarangire National Park is usually an extension on the holiday that visitors are experiencing at Oliver's Camp. Fly camping is probably the pinnacle of most guests' safaris with excursions usually spanning one night out in the open combined with a fantastic safari walk. The safari walks are wonderful opportunities for visitors to survey and explore the magnificent land of the park.

Accommodation at Fly Camping consists of:

Accommodation at Fly Camping consists of 10ft square tents that are set up outside in the open plains with guests sleeping under the stars. While this form of accommodation is likely to give visitors an adrenaline rush being so close to nature, they can still look forward to having a few every day luxuries including comfortable bedding, hot showers, and deliciously prepared food. The tents have heavy duty mosquito mesh guarding the entrances to protect guests from unwanted bugs.

A typical itinerary of Fly Camping would start the day off with a delicious breakfast at Oliver's Camp followed by a game drive to the Silale Swamps to see the elephants; lunch is scheduled for midday after which a safari walk through the plains occurs. After the walk, visitors will arrive at their own personal Fly Camp and enjoy sundowners around a camp fire before being treated to a sumptuous 3-course dinner. Guests are then shown to their tents where they can settle in for the night before getting up the next day to a hearty breakfast and a game drive en-route back to Oliver's Camp.
